The annual Campaign for Justice, the Rochester legal community’s fund drive to support free legal services for the indigent, will be held on November 13 and December 4 at WXXI Public Broadcasting Council. Approximately 50 volunteers will call lawyers and local businesses to raise money for the fund drive. The Volunteer Legal Services Project, Monroe County Legal Assistance Center and the Legal Aid Society of Rochester continue to collaborate on this successful Campaign which has been cited as a national model for bar support for legal services for the poor. The money raised as a result of this Campaign will help thousands of low-income clients with problems including domestic violence, threatened loss of housing and consumer abuses. “Each year we rely more and more on the funds raised by the Campaign to continue the services we provide to the community,” said Sheila Gaddis, Esq., Executive Director of Volunteer Legal Services Project. “The Monroe County Bar Association has shown itself to be the leader in its support of this campaign.” Campaign for Justice Co-Chairs, Gail A. Norris, Esq. of University of Rochester and David H. Tennant, Esq. of Nixon Peabody LLP, along with a campaign cabinet of esteemed local attorneys, will lead the volunteers. We ask for the legal community’s support in helping us reach our goal.
