The annual New Years Day ride from Long Beach to San Clemente. Then goes east and eventually north through inland OC. Eventually making its way back through Newport Beach and north to Long Beach. What can I say. 90+ miles. 400+ riders. 36 mph on Irvine Blvd (flat with a tail wind.) Not sure how I survived ( the 2 PureFit bars helped) but I did. I dont have an average speed but it was well into the 20s. For a ride that is technically not an organized ride I have to say it was the most fun I have had on a bike in a long time. A special thanks to Thom Thomas Morrison, Todd Brown and Barret Brauer for adding to my day. You guys are irreplaceable. The cycling scene is Orange County is unbelievable. I wish we could find a way to co-exist with the equally high amount of cars and lack of cycling friendly roads and communities.
