The antecedents and experience of the Kano State Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso have placed him as the most qualified among the four candidates vying for the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) presidential ticket in 2015, chairman of the Fear of God Christian Committee, Bishop Ezekiel Oise Orhevba, has said. He said the country needs dynamic and youthful president in 2015 so as to come out of the “groping in the dark in all areas of human endeavour and departments of life for the past 15 years since PDP has been in charge” of ruling the country. In an interview with Daily Trust, the bishop, who was a one-time House of Representatives member, explained that the party ought to single out the Kano governor as its sole candidate, stressing that he would still win the party’s primaries should other contestants insist on heading to the polls. “I have looked at all the candidates, and I observed that Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso is the most suitable for the party, because what we are looking for now is somebody who will clear the mess of several years arising from inept leadership. “We want a leader with open door policy, and who has worked in all the areas of human life: a civil servant, lawmaker, minister, he was at the constitutional conference during Abacha, and at the NDDC. In all the areas, he performed extremely very well. That is why if you look at all the contestants, he is the most qualified, dynamic and the youngest,” he said. Bishop Ezekiel also said that even the delegates at the primaries would prefer Kwankwaso ahead of others. He said that as a secular state, Nigeria needs “a good friend better than a bad brother,” recalling however that during their legislative days, they (the Christians) campaigned for Chief M.K.O Abiola to become the president owing to his quality. “If you use the candidature of Buhari against the background of that of Kwankwaso, you will find out that Kwankwaso has edge in several areas. Age is not on the side of our leader, Buhari, secondly Kwankwaso is the governor of the biggest state in the country, so has got the back-up electorate who can vote for him. He is more of a grassroots politician than the rest.”
