The anti-ACA people are running around with their hair on fire today, claiming the new CBO report says that Obamacare will cost millions of jobs and devastate the economy. Ignore the very sloppy reporting, look more closely at the report, and the truth comes out. The Affordable Care Act could, according to the CBO report, reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. The report did not say it is a job killer as our Congresswoman Miller would have you believe. Rather, its a matter of DEMAND for jobs going forward and not SUPPLY. ACA insurance is portable. Workers can follow their bliss and support their families as they see fit, perhaps allowing a working parent to stay home more with children without losing insurance, or take a risk and start their own business. And we all know people who work at jobs theyd rather not have just to have insurance coverage and older folks under 65 who would like to cut back on working due to health problems but cant because they need insurance. Now they can. Of course, levels of subsidies and individual needs will make everyones situation and decision unique. Is Obamacare perfect and has the roll out been really smooth? No, but its successes are causing the Republicans to twist the truth in more and more creatively pathetic ways to keep from looking like they were wrong. And theyve been very, very wrong. N.C.
