The apocalypse, the end of the world, has never seemed quite as - TopicsExpress

The apocalypse, the end of the world, has never seemed quite as much fun as it does in this Gen Y slacker comedy from Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, the pair that gave us Pineapple Express and wrote the classic gross out coming of age tale Superbad. Rogen has opened up his contacts list and called in favours from many of his mates to play thinly fictionalised, debauched versions of themselves in this comedy. The likes of Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Rihanna, Paul Rudd, Channing Tatum and Hill are good sports in suffering a number of unfortunate indignities and allowing themselves to become the butt of unflattering jokes at their expense. This Is The End is a relentless self-parody full of self-referential humour. This Is The End is an overly indulgent vanity project that seems like it was dreamed up while its creators were under the influence of some mind altering substances. It is full of off-colour humour, vulgar jokes about exorcisms, masturbation, flatulence and bodily functions, and much of the gross out humour would not be amiss in a Judd Apatow comedy. Much of the humour here is hit and miss and a lot of it will offend people, but those attuned to Rogen’s wavelength will find it quite funny at times.
