The argument made by the pessimist against the concept that any dream can be reached with some effort is no matter how hard a man might wish he could fly he cannot, no matter how many hours he invests in this pursuit it is doomed to fail, and of course, he is right. However, the point he is missing is this: It is not the nature of a dream to be still or fixed. A dream is bodiless, it flows and takes on new shapes as circumstances change and new knowledge is acquired. Though the dream itself in its original state may never be reached the act of chasing it allows the dreamer to reach new heights, heights that, had they not taken the initial leap of faith, they’d have never seen or come upon. Yes, though the man who wishes to fly may never come to see his goal accomplished, for all his efforts he just might be a little closer to the sun.
