The army has killed men, it has now reached to people? Translated from Aar aryang ngikiliok anangu tar lotunga dang a? The ngakarimojong version is richer. This statement, attributed to a woman in Kotido at the peak of the disarmament period refers to a period of senseless slaughter meted by the army (I must say, both sides army & illegal gun holders - for objectivity reasons). It was during the infamous Lopuyo incidents in which men had been killed in large numbers. Does the killing of men in large numbers, senselessly, diminish their humanity? Such that the only thing that remains nearer to a human being is a woman and child? How much of what happened - good and bad stories about the disarmament have you shared, or do you know especially as there is less documented? Were you in Karamoja during this time, or were directly or indirectly affected by disarmament? We would like to share these stories. Please post your experiences here or share with us on karamojadf@gmail. When we can, we will follow up with these stories and get KDF volunteers to have interviews with the people who lived through that time.
