The art world lost one its most beloved members this week. Claude - TopicsExpress

The art world lost one its most beloved members this week. Claude Simards passing is shocking on many levels. For a few decades now, he and his gallery co-founder, Jack Shainman, have been at the forefront of international art galleries - creating a site that stood out from the rest because of the extraordinary breadth and exquisiteness perceptiveness of Claude and Jacks ability to find singularly exciting, unusual and ultimately significant artists. Their international array is only now being emulated by other galleries and museums. Claude himself was extremely kind, generous with his knowledge and time, as well as being a terrific, thoughtful, warm and sweet friend, and a very good artist whose work I was lucky enough to include in an exhibition years ago. I feel so fortunate to have known Claude, but mourn the loss to all of us, friends, artists, the art world in general, that he is no longer here. What an enormous loss of a deeply loved and cherished man.
