The article is unable to conclude on anything, drifts endlessly. But it does have few points to note. Modi s assuming the role of a teacher to correct the immature indian media may be right or wrong , that is for history to reveal. But Indian media with its new found freedom since late 80s behaved irresponsible , immature , unashamedly leftist, with largely anti-national agenda headed by the likes of Prannoy Roy, Vinod Mehtha, N.Ram, Ms.Dutt, Rajdeep, Arnab ...! Someone had to bell the cunning cat and Modi assumed charge. Ironically , Modi has chosen the same tool to discipline the errant media that Ms.Gandhi used....Doordarshan. DD becoming the official news provider has made the media quacks restless. In my opinion the correction phase has begun. The mantra of news creation is on its death bed due to Modi s strategies like controlling the motor-mouths in BJP to behave. In the medium run it will build credibility to DD, that is very important to the nation. But in a decade it might prove detrimental and things may move back to congress days when DD was just their pet dog that would bark on call and yell by the master. PM has to establish 2 things to the public : 1. DD is independent by clearly showing the Chinese wall between DD and the government. 2. Monitor and ensure that the over-enthusiastic party men are kept away from DD. DD has to grow and should become the Indian equivalent of BBC ( BBC is not the bench mark , for we all know it operates with its own agenda. But it has built a semblance of credibility over the years)
