The assassination of cartoonists in Paris today shows that freedom - TopicsExpress

The assassination of cartoonists in Paris today shows that freedom of expression is NOT a universally-prized human right. In 1989 — after the Ayatollah Khomeini put a price on Salman Rushdie’s head because of remarks about Islam in THE SATANIC VERSES, I got into a barroom argument with an ultra-politically-correct Berkeley type who said that the Ayatollah was right to put that price on Rushdies head because he insulted their religion. I asked her if she thought The Pope should put a price on the heads of all the writers, artists & comedians who hourly insult the Catholic Church. She threw a glass of wine at me, end of discussion.
