The assumption is that western institutions, values and procedures - TopicsExpress

The assumption is that western institutions, values and procedures or models are universally efficacious and have to be transferred religiously everywhere. With the inculcation of western superiority complex, many African Countries have become prisoners of totally invalid and dogmatic theories (The Frontiers of Management) Now reading Henry Bourgoins LAfrique malade du management, He poses the question Is it possible to pretend managing an enterprise, a ministry or a state according to the same rules or the same results which obtain in New York, Paris, New Delhi or Abidjan? Of course the answer is NO. for the above capitals have different realities. He continues to say Just as hybrid corn that does well in Iowa is not suitable in Mexico so to African countries can not be carbon copies of those developed. Now I am asking myself, Why in Gods name were we ever taught subjects like fishing in Norway or Iron and Steel in (which country was that again Madel Kangha?) or or Car factory/ industry in that other country or those other mega industries in those Scandinavian countries. I think there was also chocolate production in switzerland ( thats a joke).
