The author makes some very good points...particularly if you or your child have sensitivies, allergies, asthma, or respiratory difficulties of any kind. Regardless of the quality of the product you use, or how you use it, if you have allergies or sensitivities, using a highly concentrated product you or your child are sensitive to could be very dangerous. Please educate yourself, use caution, consult with an allergen specialist orba doctor, and find a consult who is trained in how to use them. We bought an over the counter brand and had a bad experience...I had no idea my son (or I) was sensitive to the ingredients. We used a more expensive brand from a dealer before with no problems, so I didnt stop to think before using an over the counter product. How do you know for sure? The essential oils over the counter sold in stores are cheaper, but the labels on many of them do not provide enough information, and store clerks often do not have enough training to give good advice on how to use them properly. Some of the labels do caution people who have allergies to beware, but the problem is that sometimes people have allergies to things and they dont realize it until they are exposed to it. The author of this article agrees that using them on children and infants feet helps protect the airways a little better, but the brand I bought said on the label to put the product across the collarbone...my sons heart thumped and raced half the night! When I tried it on myself I had the same reaction. I only used this product because I had used another similar brand with no reactions...the brand, the product medium and its composition, and placement of the product are very important. Please, no offense to those who sell or use essential oils. That night my sons heart was thumping and racing, and he had trouble breathing from using an essential oil designed to promote calm and relaxation was kind of scary...this author just says some things that make sense. ~ Annette Brandenburg
