The author of The God Delusion tweeted that the worlds Muslims had won fewer Nobel Prizes than Trinity College, Cambridge Muslims peaked in the Dark Ages. But since then?: Richard Dawkins embroiled in Twitter row over controversial comments He sought to justify his controversial observation by adding: ‘Why mention Muslim Nobels rather than any other group? Because we so often hear boasts about (a) their total numbers and (b) their science.’ He also said: ‘If I were a cultural Muslim, I would have something to say about that faith’s appalling attitude to women and various other moral points.’ One wrote: ‘Dawkins spent the best part of 10 years attacking Christianity and not raising an eyebrow. He now turns that same eye on Islam and uproar.’ Dawkins is no stranger to controversy. He provoked a similar reaction in April in a tweet about Muslim journalist Mehdi Hasan. The New Statesman magazine “sees fit to print him as a serious journalist,” even though Hasan “admits to believing [the Prophet] Muhamed flew to heaven on a winged horse,” wrote Dawkins. He brought up the issue again on Tuesday by tweeting Hasan to question why someone “of his intelligence” believed in Islam.
