The author of this gospel will remain mystery. Though the gospel might be written late after the synoptic and depicted a different type of Jesus, it seems on several occasion it gives more accurate historical background than the synoptic. For instance, about when did Jesus executed? (On the preparation day or after the preparation day?) The synoptic gospel gives an inaccurate account regards to the event compared to what with the gospel of John.
