The author on being a grandparent...... I must admit becoming to be a grandparent was very hard for me. I remember my own mother being mad at me for several months when I got pregnant with my daughter. She didnt even speak to me for about 6 months. I guess I went through all the weird emotions women grow through right before becoming a grandparent. I had a lot of question for myself. Did it mean I was old? Did it mean I was too old to have children again? I hated the idea at first, it scared the shyt out of me. I felt love and anger at the same time. It was a strange place for me to be in as my daughter got further along in her pregnancy. And, then Gabi was born and all those emotions that were making me crazy went away. The love I had for my daughter giving birth to Gabi was amazing. Becoming a grandparent was a proud moment and it is something that is only experience between mother and daughter because just as you are a vessel to bring forth life, your girl-child is also. Gabriella has been a blessing and always proud to admit Im her grandmother. Now with two granddaughter and actually watching the 2nd grand baby, Ali be born, its was just a special event. Being a grandparent gave my life a new meaning to my life just as my children did when I gave birth to them. We dont usually discuss these issues among ourselves because we are so hung up on relationships with partners. The most rewarding relation we can ever have is with our children and so many of us jeopardize that because we get hung up on our youthfulness. A truth about parenting
