The authors head is not screwed on, or it is deliberately facing away from history. Not one (count them, not one) of the last RNC conventions in the past ten years or more have netted a Republican victory in the state where the convention was held. In fact, the only time it has netted a victory, we lost the election, (H.W. Bushs second term). So the message- we might as well think the Republicans are stupid or the Democrats are stupid. Worse still, we consistently ignore that the work of winning the hearts and minds of the voters is not done in the board rooms; and it is not on the face of the money we spend- it is only accomplished by making a sincere effort show concern for the people we are trying to attract. A convention should be held in Cleveland only after we have invested time and effort on the ground and in the communities of that great city. Has anyone thought to ask the people of Cleveland what they think?
