Food was found in Abu Eins respiratory canals and bleeding was reported in the Tunica intima artery, located in the throat. Palestinian, Jordanian and Israeli pathologists participated in the autopsy at Al-Quds university. The Israeli pathologist did not sign the autopsy report, although he reportedly approved of the results. The murder occurred during a march in which took part the minister alongside some 300 Palestinians that tried to plant olive trees as a symbolic act of protest against Israeli colonial settlements. Israeli soldiers and police officers attacked the group in Turmusiya village. They fired tear gas and three soldiers beat the minister on his chest.
