The average American allegedly spends $7,852.00 a year on food. So were pretty much buying a decent used car every single year to feed ourselves. Meanwhile, there are roughly 7 million people in Syria in need of humanitarian aid in light of all the bloodshed and massacres going on there for months. There are millions in other places all across the globe. So heres an idea. In Ramadan, youre basically not eating lunch every day for a month right? So if you do the math, thats basically $215.71 in lunch money were not using. So where is that money going? If youre like me, its probably going towards useless junk. So lets give our lunch money to charity instead, inshaAllah. There are roughly 4 million Muslims living in the United States, so if we each gave our lunch money that were not using to the people who need it, wed raise $862,840,000. In other words, wed raise ALMOST ONE BILLION DOLLARS! So, lets do it. Like for real, lets give up our lunch money. Its a much better feeling than whining about our stomachs growling. Islamic Relief makes it easy to donate on their secure website. You can pick whatever youd like to donate to. And if you dont have that much money to spare, donate whatever you want, even if its only a few bucks. Giving a dollar to feed someone does a lot more good for this planet than sitting around and whining about your tummy.
