The average eight year old in many Western democratic countries knows more about dinosaurs than the average West Indian. Why?...Simply because this topic was not taught to us during the Colonial era and even when we gained Independence in the sixties, not many of the Caribbean governments thought it was of extreme importance that it should be included in the curriculum. ALAS THERE GOES THE CHANCE OF FOSTERING A GRADUATE IN PALEONTLOGY OR ARCHAEOLOGY. I learnt a great deal about these creatures from discussions with young tots(including my grandkids) over the years and have been fascinated since then. I WONDER IF THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN GUYANA HAS INCLUDED THIS AS A FIELD OF STUDY IN RECENT TIMES.
