The axe thinks it has won when it cuts down the tree. Little - TopicsExpress

The axe thinks it has won when it cuts down the tree. Little does it know that there are trees unlike others – a tree whose roots run so deep that it continues to feed the soil even after being cut down. A tree whose branches extend so high that its death only means it will ascend towards that which it was reaching. A tree that bears fruits during all seasons and produces seeds that are scattered in the wind, their destinations and effects beautifully unknown to it. The trees are believers. “Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky? It produces its fruit all the time, by permission of its Lord. And Allah presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded” (14:24-25). Although my beautiful tree is gone from here, having ascending to that which he was reaching towards, his roots remain, his seeds remain, his fruits remain. The landscape is not barren! And while the seeds left behind grow again into new, strong, beautiful trees, the axe will rust and be thrown aside, useless. You see, the axe can never really win against a tree that never really dies.
