The baby we were told wouldnt even survive my pregnancy with him - TopicsExpress

The baby we were told wouldnt even survive my pregnancy with him celebrated his first birthday in the ICU. He had been there more weeks during his short life than I could count. Just a few days after he turned one, things got worse and worse. Airlifted again to Boston, Stellan was in a dire situation. His heart racing at times over 300 beats a minute, life-support was the only thing keeping him alive. When his heart stopped beating in the Cardiac ICU of Childrens Boston, my heart all but did the same thing. I stood there. It was as if time was frozen as I watched doctors and nurses run to and around Stellan, responding to the first code I ever experienced. And hopefully the last. They immediately wheeled my baby off to a last-ditch surgery, if it was indeed not already too late. The minutes turned into hours as day turned into night. At long last, Dr. Alexander, Stellans electrophysiologist, walked into the ICU. With a smile on his face. Home run, he sweetly said to me, sitting down to draw a picture with a pen on his scrubs pants of how he managed to fix my babys heart. For good. That was five years ago today. Please join me in praising God for the miracle of all of our children, and today especially Stellan on his fifth REbirthday. vimeo/16643090
