The backbone of the Chester County Rescue Task Force is its highly trained and dedicated member rescue companies. The success of our group and most importantly, a successful rescue, lies with our personnel. These rescue technicians spend hundreds of hours each year training and honing their skills so that we will be able to provide the best services possible to help our communities. While we try to hold frequent training sessions with all of the companies in a particular rescue discipline, each company also trains independently to maintain competency. We train like its the real thing...every time! Recently, Station 2 (Berwyn Fire Company) conducted confined space rescue refresher training. Members performed air monitoring, tripod set-up, rope/hauling system set-up and practiced entry and victim packaging and removal. Station 53 (Fame Fire Co. No. 3) members also conducted a rope/high angle refresher training class at the West Chester Fire Training Center. Members became familiar with several new pieces of equipment that have been added to the cache, the Arizona Vortex Multipod and CMC MPDs. The class was instructed by Rescue2Training. Instructors were members of the Washington DC Fire Department and provided outstanding real-world rigging solutions for performing rope/high angle rescues in an urban environment. Theses are just a few examples of the training that goes on behind the scenes, so that we will be ready when called upon next.
