The badger cull pilot, Owen Patersons Crazy scheme, draws the opprobrium of the nations most respected naturalist Sir David Attenborough, the opposition of Natural Englands most senior independent scientific advisor Prof David MacDonald, doubts about scientific rigour and credibility from the National Trusts Director General Dame Helen Ghosh and a legal challenge by the Badger Trust. ||Why do they spend a lot of time and money doing careful scientific studies and then simply ignore the results? asked Sir David, the UKs best known naturalist. He told the Guardian: They decided to have a six-week [cull] and when they dont get the result they want, they want to extend by eight weeks. It is simply not believing in the science.|| I will be meeting with Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commissioner Martin Surl and a team of senior police officers led by the Assistant Chief Constable Richard Berry. The first question that I will ask will be a simple one; how will the Gloucestershire constabulary cope with an 8 week extension that takes the cull into the winter month of December.
