The battle against fly-tippers continues…please share these photos which show the lengths our workers go to keep our streets, and rivers, clear. Our Streetscene team worked with Environment Agency officers to remove a fridge which had been dumped in the River Wear in Durham. The waters were still quite high as the team entered the river but managed to safely get the fridge out. Flytipping is a blight on the environment and we always investigate and seek to find those responsible. #operationstopit sees us working in partnership with Durham Constabulary, Crimestoppers and the Environment Agency to target flytippers and to ensure householders understand their responsibilities in making sure their waste is disposed of properly.
