The beauty of a woman lies in her being sensitive, fragile, emotional, and seeking attention. The hadith in which the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) likened a woman to a rib and advised the man to “enjoy her with her crookedness” and not try to straighten her, is not meant to degrade her; rather, the man is being encouraged to appreciate the fact that she is created differently from him, and thus naturally more sensitive and emotional, so he should handle her with care. Her sensitive nature may seem crooked to a man, but that is what makes her a woman and beautiful – similar to a rib whose beauty and well-being lies in it being crooked. Furthermore, the husband is being reminded that, just as a rib snaps if straightened, it would be wrong and foolish of him to try and mould his wife into being like him. As such, to say a woman is sensitive or attention-seeker is not a criticism, rather it is describing beautiful feminine characteristics.
