The beginning of the story of Adam (AS) in Surah Al-Baqarah - TopicsExpress

The beginning of the story of Adam (AS) in Surah Al-Baqarah clarifies many issues which I did not seem to really understand. Of why we as humans were put onto this earth? Only to cause corruption? Why did Allah allow us to do evil? Was He not competent on preventing us from evil? So to my astonishment coming across such verses in the Quran through the speaker Jeffrey Lang, I was surprised to now that even the angels asked. Even the angels asked! The beings made out of light, continually obedient in response to Allah’s command. They asked the most relevant question and I needed its answer. The reply by Allah was even more astonishing, ‘Indeed I know that which you do not know.’ How perfect Allah is, to show our limitation in knowledge and how inferior we are in comparison to our Lord; and how inferior angels also are. The powerful and truthful statement was shown with a proof. Allah said to the angels, not everything was known to them and that with every action there is a purpose including the creation of Adam. So to show how limited they were in what they knew it states, And He taught Adam the names - all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful. The response given by the angels was ‘Exalted are You...’ Why were they astonished? The same reason I was because Allah proved to them their inferiority in terms of knowledge. They did not know the names and could only reply by exalting their Lord. If Allah holds more superior knowledge than you, O humans, why should you question His actions? Via - Djoueriah Anshur
