The below post comes from my page Atheist Centralists Isaac Ladies and Gentlemen, recently there has been a story in Britain about a celebrity called Katie Hopkins who recently made the following tweets regarding a nurse who has contracted Ebola from working in West Africa: Glaswegian ebola patient moved to Londons Royal Free Hospital. Not so independent when it matters most are we jocksville? Little sweaty jocks, sending us Ebola bombs in the form of sweaty Glaswegians just isnt cricket. Scottish NHS sucks. Now anyone who is aware of this woman will know thats shes made some rather distasteful and idiotic comments in the past but she ultimately has the right to say what she wants with out being censored or prosecuted. In light of Police Scotlands decision to investigate Hopkins comments, I commented on a post by the Were Still Laughing At The United Kingdom Independence Party - SLATUKIP (which I follow via Facebook as its against UKIPs ideas and I firmly support that view because I disagree with UKIPs climate scepticism, their wish to bring us back into the Victorian era by cutting a lot of regulations and their isolationism in foreign policy but these areas of disagreement are a subject for another time). Anyway, in my comments I defended Hopkins right to free speech and I receive a firestorm of abuse against my position saying that she should be fined and arrested because she has committed hate speech. My friend Joe Postoves comments were even deleted when he dared to defend free speech. Ive come to the conclusion that theres hypocrisy on both sides of the UKIP argument and it distresses me immensely when people try and censor those they have an disagreement with rather than counter said arguments with arguments of their own.
