The best thing I read this week was...Action Comics Futures End #1. Here are some notes from my thoughts on the issue. Who else read this and share your own thoughts, please. Thanks. ...I have no idea who Sholly Fisch is directly. It looks like he has mostly been on all-ages style books. But I hope this is not the last time I get to read his work. For Petes sake, DC, give this guy a mainstream book of his own. It is frequently noted that Supes is a tough character to handle in story. How do you present the guy a challenge that is at all interesting, much less relatable to readers? One way is to put him in the same character situations that all of us face, regardless of our point of origin. After going through a tough time, do you make choices that put you in a place where you can achieve all of your potential? Do you fulfill the responsibility that is inherent with all of your talent? Or is taking a desk job, however seemingly noble, really just a cop-out, rather than facing up to the challenge of employing all of your talents to their maximum? I cannot say enough how much I love this story. It is telling of many elements of human nature, and the challenges we all face, regardless of whether you are a Superman or the average Joe. We rise, we fall, and some of us get back up again, while some choose to be who they are, regardless of their blessings or curses. The story is eloquently told, and is very much in the vein of Alex Ross seminal work, Kingdom Come... Other VERY STRONG issues this week: Aquaman Futures End #1 Avengers World #12 Batman Eternal #22 Cloaks #1 (Boom!) Legendary Starlord #3 The Woods #5 (Boom!)
