The best thing that can happen to the deplorable Nigerian Criminal Justice system: Separation of Attorney General from the Minister of Justice. (an antidote to fight corruption in the country without political favouritism and witch - haunting). The recommendations by the Senate Constitution Review... “There shall be an Attorney-Genera l of the Federation, who shall be the chief law officer of the federation. “The president shall appoint the Attorney-Genera l, subject to confirmation by the Senate. “A person shall not be qualified to hold or perform the function of the office of AGF unless he is qualified to practice as a legal practitioner and he have been so qualified for not less than 10 years. “He is not a member of a political party or a civil servant. The AGF shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other authority or a person in the performance of the function of his office. “The Attorney-Genera l shall hold office for a single term of seven years. “A person holding the office of the AGF shall only be removed from the office by the president, acting on an address supported by two-third majority of the Senate, praying that he be so removed for inability to discharge the functions of his office (whether arising from infirmity of mind or body or any other cause) or for misconduct or offences relating to the code of conduct,” some of the clauses read in part."
