The best thing you can do to manage your disease is to be informed - TopicsExpress

The best thing you can do to manage your disease is to be informed and to control what you can control. The first thing I did when I was diagnosed was to change my eating eating habits. Gluten (Glue/Protein) was the first to go. Allow yourself a day or so a week to cheat and let go. I let go too much these days, but there was a time when I was afraid to let go at all. It was too hard to get back on the wagon. Living with MS is a balance between controlling your lifestyle, but not letting it control you. So I cheat to make sure I can regain control. There was a time when Id never slip because I was afraid I would lose my entire lifestyle. I was an all or nothing girl. Its a weird line we need to learn we CAN walk; if you slip you ARE strong enough to get back up. Letting go, cheating on your diet, becomes important at some point. Its okay to let go, be human, and get right back to where you were. Dont be afraid you have mucked up for life. If you are considering starting with diet to manage your MS, get over this doctors last name (Hyman) and start reading. Knowing is half the battle ~G.I.
