The big barnwood desk top was delivered today to its new home in Center Conway, NH and will sit overlooking a beautiful view of the white mountains. The desk top was built with barn joists that were reclaimed from a renovated barn in Cornish Maine originally built in 1899. The barn was constructed with wood from another barn that was taken down nearby, but the age and location of that barn is a mystery. These joists are well over 100 years old and have clear markings from being milled in a circular saw. The desk top is finished in epoxy and polyurethane to give it a super-smooth satin finish that is a perfect surface for writing and working. The new owner and I are now searching for a unique reclaimed piece to serve as the base for this top to complete their new desk.
