The big news of the week is that Tonis custom made new cart from Eddies Wheels finally arrived! Toni is a large, senior mixed breed, estimated to be at least age 8 and came to Home for Life last Xmas Eve from the Vafa Animal Shelter of Iran. Before he was taken in by Vafa, someone had cut his ears off & half his tail. As if that wasnt enough. Toni had been hit by a car and was left paraplegic. Some kind people brought him to Vafa for care, but with over 500 dogs at the shelter, Toni couldnt get the attention he needed. Iran has a climate like ours in the Midwest, and staff and volunteers worried about him making it through the winter season as cold weather approached. Tonis new cart has underbody straps and the welded and fixed saddle helps support his weight. The cart is so sturdy and well built that Toni feels much more secure and comfortable , and its so much easier to get him in and out of it, as heavy as he is. With the lure of a treat, he is rapidly learning to walk in his new cart, and goes a little further on his walks each day. The cart will really help to improve his quality of life by giving him the ability to be active like other dogs.
