Its easy in the disputes at the Council of Ferrara-Florence in 1438-39, to forget that Plethon was not interested in attacking Christianity. He was concerned with defending Byzantium against Islam. His vision was of a unified Hellenism. A polytheism underpinned by a radical philosophical theism that refutes Islam. By acknowledging the supreme transcendent God as Father of all Gods. He confounds the claims of all monotheistic religions. ☀️ This is our clarion call our starting point, for the defence of Hellenism. The turning point in history, if we accept it. Our fight is nothing less than the fight for civilisation, reason and logic. The restoration of Constantinople and a New Byzantium. Christianity has largely failed in its defence against Islam because it doesnt address its central claim. Hellenism through Plethon does just that.
