The bikes roll in all day and night through the warm rain from jungle highways, roads and huge cities. Some have been riding for up to 3 weeks to get here partying on the way. One group has ridden 6000 kilometers, will continue to Buenos Aries, then across the continent to Santiago Chile, up through Peru and do a huge circle before heading home to various Brazilian cities after how many kilometers, I am not sure but it will easily be 10-15000 km. European friends join these rides for distances they cannot imagine at home. This country is as beautiful as it is dangerous; it is as stunning as it is corrupt; it is as rich as it is poor, and few places are as friendly but keep yer eyes wide open at all times. If you like your jewelry, it may become a distant memory here. If street kids miss an opportunity, a cop will surely point it out to them so he can get a bigger cut of their spoils at nights end. Yes, these young innocent-looking waifs are skilled thieves, and experts in wolfpack violence before their teenaged years...some are also killers. Rio has more gun-murders some weekends than Toronto has in a year....this continues every weekend with a lull on weekdays where the rate drops to 25-30 per day....and Rio is only one huge city in a country with tens of huge cities bigger than Toronto, many that you have never heard of.
