The board of the Deep Roots Music Festival is calling for nominations for this year’s Valley Arts Award. Previously Chet Brown, Sara Lee Lewis and Jack MacDonald were recipients of this prize. This year the festival would appreciate suggestions related to the music community of the Annapolis Valley. The award, which will be presented at the annual festival in September, is intended to honour someone who: is, or has been a resident of the region, has worked for the development and/or the promotion of music in the Valley and has made a significant long-term contribution. The award is generally presented during the Sunday afternoon closing concert. Music teacher Barbara Hansen was last year’s recipient. Nominations in the form of a letter or an e-mail, outlining particulars of the contribution the individual has made to the cultural life of the region, should be directed to: Wendy Elliott, The Kings County Advertiser, P.O.
