The bobolinks are back! These birds prefer the open fields and tall, uncut grasslands, just like those found at the Door County Land Trusts Legacy Preserve at Clay Banks. During the summer breeding season the bobolinks migrate from South America to as far north as Lake Superior. The males have a distinctive metallic, bubbling song. Watch and listen for the bobolinks on your next hike, and you just may find them clinging to tall brush and shrubs on the edges of open fields. Photos by Dale Goodner.
