The body of former deputy minister of local government Godfrey Kamanya will be laid to rest today at Area 18 Cemetery in Lilongwe. His close friend former transport minister Ulemu Chilapondwa confirmed this to Zodiak Radio. Kamanya, an executive member of the ruling Peoples Party which is trailing in the May 20 polls, committed suicide in the wee hours of Thursday. He left behind a note in which he described his desired funeral arrangement. In the note he claimed to have taken his own life because some officials of the Democratic Progressive Party had threatened to kill him due to political reasons.
