The body of the late President Michael Sata, who died on Tuesday night in London, will arrive in Zambia on Saturday 1 st November, 2014. Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has announced the development at press briefing in Lusaka today. Dr. Msiska said the body will arrive at the Kenneth Kaunda International airport at 10:00 hours. He said Acting President Guy Scott will lead government officials, military personnel and family members among other several mourners to receive the body at the airport. He explained that a military escort will thereafter lead the cortege to Mulungushi International Conference Center where the Acting President is expected to lay a wreath in a brief wreath laying ceremony. Dr. Msiska said the body of the late President will then lie in state at the Mulungushi International Conference Center until Sunday 9 th November, 2014. The Secretary to the Cabinet also announced that burial of the late President will take place on Tuesday, 11 th November, 2014 at the Embassy Park opposite Cabinet office in Lusaka. He said body viewing will commence on Sunday 2 nd November 2014 adding that members of the public were encouraged to pay their last respects to the late President at the Mulungushi International Conference Center in Lusaka. Dr. Msiska said the burial will be preceded by a requiem church service at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. He also said there will be a thanksgiving ceremony at parliament building on Monday 10 th November, 2014 at 10:00 hours. Meanwhile, Dr. Msiska disclosed that books of condolences will be opened today at Government House in Lusaka, provincial administration in the provinces and in Zambian missions abroad. Dr. Msiska said government has also earmarked Belvedere lodge in Lusaka as the funeral place for close relatives while mourners are encouraged to assemble at the Agricultural and Commercial show grounds where sermons will be conducted and solemn music played.
