The bonds you form with some people will make you look past anything. Ignore what they’ve become. You’ll hang on to the version you want to remember, not the one in front of you now. Friends, parents, mentors. We hold on to that idealized image of them even if it’s an illusion. Because even if we can’t believe in them, what does that say about us? Remembering that best version of our friends reminds us that we were that promising once. That strong, that alive.
