The book is the first of a planned series of books whose story transports the reader across the world and back in time, and is a fictional account based on the mysterious artifacts called the Visby Lenses. The lenses were discovered in several 11th century Viking graves on the island of Gotland, Sweden. Some lenses were set in silver as pieces of jewelry, but had amazing optical properties almost equal to that of modern-day lenses, a feat thought impossible until several hundred years later. The book series captures the adventures of college student, Sarabeth Steinbrenner, and her friends as they travel back in time using a special Visby Lens artifact left by her ancestor. They must uncover clues at each of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World in an effort to find an undiscovered eighth wonder, along with its treasure. As guardians, her ancestors have kept its location and its treasure a secret over the centuries. Now only she can protect that secret from those who wish to reach it first.
