The boy who began it all....Riley with his happy-go-lucky personality and smile that captured your heart. Our inspiration for beginning Greyt Escape exactly 8 years ago, has left us to join his sister, Opa, Frolicking in the rain at the rainbow bridge. His health suddenly failed just 2 days ago and there wasnt much we could do but keep him comfortable until it was time to go. He enjoyed his final days with Grandma, Grandpa, his sitter Daniel and Lizzie stopping by to say goodbye. Daddy and I held him close all day and whispered to him as he left us. He was our first adoption and will be forever in our hearts. 9.5 years of pure joy he brought our home. And welcomed every hound to share his toys and treats (but not HIS bed!). Teaching his little sister the ropes and bidding her farewell when she left us. Thank you to Dr. Hilden who gave him a new lease on life after an injury damaged his legs 4 years ago. Her attention and love for our hounds is a window into her soul. She really, really loves the animals and her job. Thank you for coming out yet again, so late at night to send him off in his favorite bed, secure in his home. And for always being available when we needed your help and knowledge. You never gave up until it was time to do so. Thank you to Diana H. who again, came straight over when I called. You have been a savior to us more than once and for that, there are no words strong enough to display our gratitude. And to those of you who knew this was happening and kept in contact throughout (you know who you are!) your support & kind words are worth more than youll ever know. We are without hounds of our own so suddenly. Weve never had quiet in this home and though we will adopt again, for now, we will continue to love your hounds as if they are ours and fill our house with the pitter-patter of their feet and morning kisses. Riley could not have picked a better day to leave than on the day we celebrate 8 years of our crazy dog house he began. Be free and know that you were so very loved Bubba. And dont forget to visit every now & then.......
