The boy with striped pajamas. Jahnavi was reading this novel.I reluctantly bought DVD due to her insistence and watched a heart ravishing story with her. This movie is about the Second World War, atrocities on Jews and its psychological aftermath in the family of army officer. The officer is posted in the hinterland and the family has to leave Berlin. The 8 year old boy Bruno reluctantly leaves his friends and school only to land in a lonely bungalow near the concentration camp of which his father is incharge. He finds a way to reach to the camp escaping through the bathroom window of the outhouse. He meets a Jewish boy with striped pajamas there inside the electrical wire fencing. They become friends and share their innocent thoughts. The family comes to know about the monstrous cruelties in the camp due to smoke coming out of the gas chamber and the officer decides to send his family back to the HQ. This boy goes to say goodbye to his friend who tells him about his missing father. Bruno promises to help him and comes with the spade to dig the channel to enter inside the camp. The Jewish boy brings him the striped pajamas to wear so as the soldiers do not recognize him. Bruno wears those and they start to search for the Jewish father. Thats the time when the German soldiers are pushing the Jew camp people to the gas chamber and both the boys are also dragged there. And the spine shivering showers of poisonous water coldly kill these innocent souls too. The army officer and his wife are shattered. Every scene of the movie is directed to build the haunting climax making deep impact on our minds..... Spectacular movie
