The brain has started to twitch. Something usually happens when it starts to twitch. Nothing major; usually a bad idea. It sort of forces its way through the synapses. Right now, alternative lyrics to Do They Know Its Christmas? are coming to me; the odd line here or there. . Because once again Bob Geldofs fevered ego has motivated him to trot that bloody song out again, with its Ooh, all of Africas so shitty and only us largely white former colonial masters can help them out by sending them some of the proceeds from this single message. Gotta love it. It allows us to patronise an entire continent under the pretence of helping them, so we can stifle the guilty internal voices for a bit longer. (Dont look at me; I did my bit. I bought the single!) And of course it means we can slag off the whole of Africa for whats affecting Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, making it more difficult for any other country on that landmass to attract investment. And we cant knock it because its for charity.
