The calm before the storm: If you think the campaigns during this election cycle are horrendously obnoxious with the misleading ads, the 1-888 survey phone calls during dinner time, the knocks on the door, etc., etc. JUST WAIT! Heres what will happen. The Get Out the Vote Effort during the last month will be unlike anything this state has ever seen. The minute mail ballots go out, every registered Democrat and Republican will be barraged with phone calls, emails, uninvited knocks on the door from strangers all wanting to remind you to fill out your ballot. In addition, most of the well-financed candidates spent the biggest wad of advertising cash for the last month of the campaign. I promise, you will be BEGGING for Dealing Doug and Jake Jabs by the time this election is over. The only way to get it stop (a little bit, anyways) is to fill out your mail ballot as SOON as you are able. They will know IF you voted (not HOW). But even then, expect dozens, if not hundreds of interruptions. If you have a storm shelter, get it ready. Bring a cot, a kerosene lamp and a months supply of food.
