The caucus rule forces every R state legislator to vote for the - TopicsExpress

The caucus rule forces every R state legislator to vote for the final budget regardless of what’s in it. For if you vote against the final budget, you will be excluded from the caucus the next legislative session and not given a committee chair. The projected fiscal year deficit when they all voted for the final budget was $1.67 Billion. With plummeting oil prices, the projected FY deficit is now over $3 Billion. I spoke to several legislators about it and they all said that they needed to stay in caucus in order to represent their constituents. My response is that by being forced to vote for a deficit pork laden budget, you are disenfranchising your very own constituents on the very bill that economically matters the most. Financially, the caucus rule will cost every man, woman, and child in Alaska $4500.
