The cavalier way in which Cuadrilla have moved in to start drilling, in the full knowledge that they will have NO legal authority to perform any testing before their planning permission expires on the 28th Septemner, and knowing they will not be able to flare nor extend their permit before October, TOTALLY legitimises the direct action now being taken against their activities. I know nothing of the details of this arrest. The whys and wherefores. But what seems clearly visible is an excessive use of force to restrain a barefooted protestor. Scenes like this will only stiffen resolve. Balcombe residents did not go along to a peaceful protest to experience scenes like this.
