The chance for a significant winter storm for the Tennessee Valley continues to increase. When dealing with these types of winter storms there is always a sweet spot a narrow band of the heaviest snowfall. We will continue to monitor the development and try to determine where this band of heavy snow will end up. Some forecast guidance puts this band right across the Alabama/Tennessee state line while other guidance puts it just to our south. Sunday would be a good day to make sure you are prepared for a significant winter storm. The primary threat will be travel problems due to the heavy snow. If this band of heavy snow develops over North Alabama and southern Tennessee many roads could become hazardous if not impassable Monday night into Tuesday morning. Stay tuned for possible changes as this storm continues to develop and we narrow the threat. Snowfall accumulations could range from 2-5 wherever this band of heavy snow falls. Higher totals are possible stay tuned for updates. Temperatures will begin to warm up into the 50s Thursday afternoon. (up to a 5 out of 10 for those following that trend)
