The child The Child, short horror story, by B.T. Joy narrated by Jesse Cornett, with help from Heather Ordover and Andrea Rose is about a girl named Rachael, who offers to babysit her nephew so that her Aunt Carol can have a night out for the first time in a long while. Before Carol departs, she suggests that her child may be at a loss for energy, as she believes he may be “coming down with something.” When Rachael meets the boy for the first time, noticing his pale skin and sunken eyes, she fears he may be more sick than anticipated. When the boy, out of nowhere, says “I don’t want it to be like this anymore,” things get decidedly more sinister.
