The childrens Sermon started out as a simple question, What is the shortest verse in the whole Bible? God is Love was the answer that someone called out from the Congregation, probably the first thought of many that morning. The answer, :Jesus wept (John 11:35) is the passage that describes Lazarus being raised from the dead. Have you ever wondered why Jesus cried on that wonderful morning? I always felt it was that He knew where Lazarus was and He was having to leave His Fathers house to come back to earth! Over the last few years, Suzanne and I decided to remodels a few room in our house. We put new tile down in the kitchen and formal eating area, a new ceiling in our eating area ad the most was the new oak custom cabinets. The before and after is so much difference. I still joke and tell folks this is my new Harley Davidson (our kitchen) for what it cost! After being a Pastor for 29 years, this is our first: home that we ever owned! I always told my churches as we lived in the houses they furnished, it may be your house, but it is our home. Home has such a beautiful sound, doesnt it. I once had a church member in Magee who had such a beautiful house (name is protected), and she told me before her death as we talked about her arrangements, Brother Glen, my marriage has been over for years, my family divide, this beautiful home is nothing but an empty shell of a house now - the love of Christ is all I have left. - An empty shell - just a house and not a home - Wow! I still think of her and those words when I hear the word home. Really sad to me. If you build your house (your life) upon Rock (Gods Word) and not upon sand (temporal things), Jesus told his listeners, you would be safe and saved from all winds and floods (forces that would separate you from Gods love) - now and forever. That is the shortest version of a very long truth.
