The church should just focus on being the church we were called to be and stop trying to influence the State. When we actually do that, our communities will be transformed. And, the ironic thing, our State will be too. The problem is when we want to skip all those middle steps. When we want to transform the State without transforming ourselves first, our churches next, and then our communities, we come across as people shoving our morals down on others and using punishment to make people behave in a Christlike way. A changed nation can only happen by changed people, not by force.
